The 2024 edition of the Cayman Cup delivered one of the most exciting races in the event’s history, with the largest field of riders ever competing in this 38-mile showdown. Known for its fast-paced action and challenging course, the race lived up to expectations, providing fans with an unforgettable spectacle of endurance, tactics, and speed.
Right from the start, the race saw intense competition as two breakaways formed early on, shaking up the peloton and setting the stage for a dramatic finish. The lead breakaway, which proved to be decisive, saw four riders – Igor Magalhaes, Jeremy Solomon, Jerome Ameline, and John Thompson – establish a gap on the chasing group. Working together, they managed to hold off the chasing trio of Victor Magalhaes, Andrew Ebanks and Chris Bodden, and position themselves for a high-stakes sprint to the line.
As the finish approached, it was clear that the victory would be decided among the leading quartet. In a heart-pounding sprint, Igor Magalhaes surged ahead in the final meters, pulling off a stunning surprise victory. Magalhaes, who was part of the decisive breakaway, timed his attack perfectly, securing first place overall.
Hot on his heels was Jeremy Solomon, who finished just behind to claim 2nd place, with Jerome Ameline rounding out the podium in 3rd. John Thompson finished 4th, followed by Victor Magalhaes, who led the chase group and took 5th place.
